A Red Light Camera (short for red light running camera) is a traffic device which captures drivers who are running a red light.

How it works Edit

A red light camera is usually posted near the stop-line of a traffic signal. The camera will be activated after the light turns red and after a short delay of 1-2 seconds. After a vehicle crosses the stop-line and proceeds through the intersection, the camera will take 3 photos (1. crossing the stop line; 2. in the middle of the intersection; 3. leaving the intersection). The driver will be notified and needs to pay a fine.
